This creative newborn session was so special to be a part of! Kepler had braces on her legs due to a hip click. Kepler was born breech, and babys like her can often have issues with their hips and may need surgery for hip dysplasia. Kepler had to wear a brace 24 hours a day, so I needed to come up with a creative way to photograph her that was also completely safe! I love being able to go above and beyond for my clients to ensure everyone has an amazing experience with their newborn session. It is so extremely important that as a posed newborn photographer, you have proper training and knowledge on safe posing and handling of newborns. I take extra care with each baby that I get to work with to keep them not only safe, but content and comfortable. Kepler’s mom had a stunning and delicate gown for Kepler to wear for part of her newborn session that covered her braces. This was a wonderful idea! We did also want to document her as she was, brace and all. Mom ended up loving the images where you can see Kepler’s brace the most! Your child’s journey is unique to them and each one deserves to be preserved in photographs.
Another way I got creative while photographing Kepler’s newborn session, is by using wider based buckets to place her in for the posed solo shots. I also used support beams to ensure her hips were kept in alignment while in the various poses. I am so proud of how these photographs turned out for Kepler and her family! She is going to do big things in this world, I know it.
