i’m back. i didn’t post last month for the clickin moms photography challenge but couldn’t resist this month’s theme.
depth of field is one of my favorite things about photography – next to light. i borrowed my son’s legos for this challenge. he wanted me to only use the superhero figures – capturing spiderman, wonder women, batman, and captain america. what a group!
i shot these images using my 50mm 1.4G lens at 1.4 – i love the bokeh effects. i played around with each image and depending on which figure i focused on it was interesting to see how much or how little each superhero was in focus.
please be sure to click on the link at the bottom of my post to follow the circle of photographers and see how each one explores the monthly theme.
if you look closely at each image you can see what a fellow clickin moms member likes to call a ‘bokeh sandwhich’ – where everything in front of what you focused on as well as behind it is out-of-foucs. thus creating a sandwhich.
also for those wondering what the heck ‘bokeh’ means- it comes from the japanese word boke, which means “blur” or “haze”. it is the aesthetic quality of the blur in the out-of-focus areas of an image. (thank you wikipedia for that definition). there is your little photography lesson for the day.
now take a look at lynda vandeventer’s post to see how she interprets this month’s theme. please be sure check back next month to follow me along my monthly challenge.
