Haley’s Rainbow Baby Maternity Session

Haley’s rainbow baby maternity session was incredibly emotional to photograph and I am so thankful that she trusted me with such an important memory. This is Haley’s second baby, she lost her first daughter in a tragic accident about a year ago, so this session meant the world to her. Haley knew that she wanted to incorporate her first babygirl into her maternity session, and chose to use butterflies as symbolism since they remind her of her first daughter. I thought this was such a subtle and beautiful way to remember and include her baby girl. We put a few colorful butterflies in the backdrop behind Haley as well as a few butterflies resting on and around her throughout the session. Haley’s white dress was the perfect choice to allow the focus to be on her and this beautiful pregnancy as well as letting the colorful butterflies shine through. She chose to wear a white maternity gown as it symbolizes two of the most important thing a mother who has lost a child can ask for, purity and peace. I love the choices that Haley made for how she wanted her rainbow baby maternity session to look and feel, we made the perfect team for bringing her vision to life. Even after a great loss, Haley knows that she is blessed to be having another baby, this time a baby boy! She wanted to focus on both this sweet baby boy that she is growing and the big sister looking down on them. I think it is an amazing thing to know she has her daughter watching over her new baby. Haley will be able to show her baby boy these images someday and tell him all about how his big sister has been there all along and will always be with him. Haley’s rainbow baby maternity session
