dear quinn –
there is not a day that goes by that you don’t make me laugh! you have become such a silly, sweet boy. you really started expressing yourself more and more lately. i love some of the things that come out of your mouth and your facial expressions are priceless! you turned 3 last month, i was a little nervous about three for you as your brothers made being three really challenging for mommy. so far you being three has been great – you are talking much more now and seem to get frustrated less now that you can tell me what you want.
i decided to write down some of your ‘toddler-ease’ to share them here with you. when you want to do something you will say to me ‘mommy, my do it’, or ‘my go with you’ if you want to come with me to run errands. if i call you a monkey, or turkey or any other name that is not quinn you always say to me ‘my not monkey, my quinn’. i love to sit and watch you play, if you catch me doing this you will very adamantly look at me and say ‘stop looking at me’ to which i respond with ‘but i love you’. you smile and say ‘ok, you look at me then’. my favorite though is when you are wanting to talk or say something when someone else is talking – you belt out ‘my talking’! i think you got that from me – i will frequently tell you or your brothers ‘i am talking’ when one of you tries to interrupt me. i love how you have chosen to use it.
when your birthday was a few weeks away, we talked all the time about your birthday and what type of party you wanted – from the beginning you always said you wanted a ‘penguin tree’ party (not sure what that was but i did my best to create that for you). oh and you were very insistent that you were four. when asked how old you were you would say ‘i four now’. you were a little disappointed to learn that you were only three. i am so amazed at how well you can put your words together to tell mommy what you want. it may not always sound correct but you sure do try as hard as you can to express yourself.
you love to help mommy with the chickens – whether letting them out of the coop in the mornings or checking for eggs. you want to be right there doing it. you often go over and pick one of them up and carry her around while having a conversation with her. i love listening to you talk to them – which usually ends with you saying ‘thank you for the eggs’. you especially love to hold skittles –
you are also always willing to be my model for taking pictures. if mommy wants to practice a new technique, test out the light in a situation or even just take a picture of your smiling face – you are very cooperative for me (some bribing for candy may take place as well). it helps that i show you the picture of yourself on the back of my camera. when you see the picture you sometimes will say ‘my do it again’.
i am very proud of the little boy you are becoming and i cannot wait to see what being 3 brings for you! i love you to pieces quinn.
