A full session at two weeks old

Baby Maelyn came to my Fort Worth studio at two weeks old along with her family. These early sessions are always a mix of planning and going with the flow, and this one was no different. From the start, it was clear she was curious about everything going on around her.

Soft colors and simple styling

We used a mix of sage, blush, and soft pink tones throughout her session to keep everything light and timeless. For the family images, we kept the colors more neutral and earthy so the focus stayed on connection rather than styling. A pink flokati, a heart bowl, and a few soft floral details were used to keep the setups simple but still add a little texture.

Big siblings who stole the show

Maelyn’s big brother and sister did such a great job during the session. They were gentle, patient, and clearly excited about their new baby sister. Those sibling images always end up being some of the most meaningful, and this session was no different. Their joy and love for their baby sister was priceless.

A wide awake baby with lots of personality

Maelyn had no interest in missing anything and spent much of her session awake. While that can sometimes be unpredictable, she gave us so many moments of eye contact and expression that added variety to her gallery. To make sure we captured everything her parents were hoping for, mom came back for a second session so we could focus on baby-only images. It was worth the extra time to create a full gallery for them.

Watching this family grow

This was the third baby I’ve photographed for this family, which always makes sessions like this even more special. Seeing families come back and grow over the years is one of the best parts of what I do. It adds another layer of meaning to the images knowing how much their story has changed.

Preserving this stage for their family

These early weeks go by quickly, especially with multiple children at home. Maelyn’s session captured both the calm and the energy of this season, from sibling moments to her wide awake expressions. It’s a stage that looks different for every family, and this one was full of personality.
