It isn’t everyday that I get the pleasure of photographing a wide awake newborn session! Liam James, you are such a joy and your parents are so smitten with you, as is my camera! Liams sweet, calm demeanor was incredible for photographing. His eye contact skills are on point already! Mom and dad were so thrilled to have these images of baby Liam wide awake and smiling for the camera. Look at all of his little facial expressions, he really gave his parents a gift during this session. Babies eyes being wide open throughout most of their session is definitely not the norm, but was a very welcome change of pace for me. It’s always fun to try to get them to smile when they are so alert! Before Liams newborn session mom reached out to me a little bit concerned about him not being much of a sleeper. I was able to reassure her that while this isn’t typical, it can actually be a really good thing and after years of experience I’m very good at being able to read baby and go at their pace. Wide awake or fast asleep, we will always get those precious moments documented in a beautiful and timeless way. It can make all of the difference to hire a photographer with plenty of experience, especially with newborn photography! Newborn photography takes a special kind of photographer, having lots of patience, creativity and laid back personality is the best combination to successfully specialize in the newborn genre.
Soft lighting and neutral colors are shaping up to be a theme in session requests from clients this past year, which I am one hundred percent here for. Neutral backgrounds are perfect for incorporating props and cute little outfits that pop in color. This session is a great example of what to wear to your family newborn session in a studio.
